2016|17 Initiatives
Funds received this financial year will go towards the For Better Initiative English and Foundation Pathways Bursary Award offered at the Manawatu Massey University campus. The aim of this initiative is to relieve some of the financial pressure that builds up as a result of attending University. It also serves to break the barrier of english literacy difficulties that some people with refugee backgrounds face. We are working towards being able to offer bursary awards in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Nelson and Dunedin. Donate now and help us achieve this a little quicker.

2017|18 Initiatives
Funds received in the 2017|18 financial year and beyond will go towards expanding the number of bursary award we can offer. They will also be used to fund the For Better Initiative Barrier Breaker School Fund.
The For Better Initiative Barrier Breaker School Fund is designed to give schools, at both the primary and secondary level, the resources required to design and implement specific learning programmes for students with refugee backgrounds. To qualify for this fund schools need to provide a detailed request outlining their suggested learning programme and its projected benefits. Approval will be at the discretion of the selection committee.
2018|19 and beyond
Sustaining and increasing the resources available for established initiatives will be the main focus for the 2018|19 financial year. However, we also envision the establishment of a fund to support a longitudinal study which will capture the educational experiences and achievements of people with refugee backgrounds. This research will give us greater insight into where our funds are most needed.
